Troubleshooting 5.5 week old chick

It's in her favor, and yours, that she's made it this far. Severe FTT chicks usually die in the first two weeks.

I've successfully nurtured a FTT chick to adulthood feeding tofu as a treat each day for all of the chicks. I never removed a chick from her mates except when hopelessly sick. Even a severely injured chick was left with her mates while recovering. They do so much better with the others, and when I fed the tofu with Nutri-drench sprinkled over it, all of the chicks got some. This tactic actually stimulates the weak chick to eat whereas if left alone, they have a much poorer appetite.

That FTT chick never did achieve full size, and I had to rehome it since I raised it for someone else. The little male did fine except it was so small it got out of the run and was picked off by a predator.

Update: Little Fluffernutter has become quite fond of her morning mash with nutridrench and warm preening sessions. She runs to me when I call her and jumps into my hand wanting cuddles. She is thriving and just the sweetest girl. I am just smitten with her 🥰

It’s been a really tough couple weeks with losing chickens. But my little Fluffernutter has been the brightest spot for me. Not only is she thriving but she is just the sweetest, cutest, most easy going pullet who loves her cuddles. I just adore her so much. She is a good companion for her sisters who come in for treatment, especially for Freckles who lost her companion yesterday. The older gals seem to understand how much I love her because they leave her alone, which is not the same for her sisters. Lol

Anyways, just thought I’d share a couple of pictures to help me smile and hopefully give you a smile too @azygous
