Trout in the Duck's Pond

I'd worry about the duck poo causing water quality problems. I've watched shows on raising fish in ponds and one caller called in asking about ducks and the pond/fish experts said you'd need a pond for both... aka one for the fish and one for the ducks keeping them separate because of the water quality. Trouts not only need cold aerated water, they also need clean water

if it was me i'd go for natural pond fish that are exposed to mallards in the wild and those would probably be best for that kind of co-habitation

I have ten ducks who live with my goats in western nc. There is a small stream running through the goat field in which I have made a very
small pond (pool is more accurate). Every day I feed the goats, then the ducks in the water using a trough I have out in the pool (my
goats will not step in water so they leave the duck food alone). It seems that duck food is good for trout since the few fingerlings in
the pool have grown quite large since this arrangement began. I also give the fish crickets, worms etc. Though I have never seen the
ducks eat a fish, I have seen them swallow some pretty big moles and mice!
I have Indian Runner ducks, Pygmy goats and Rainbow trout.

As the fish get large, just bear in mind they can eat baby ducks too.

Seems i read that bass will eat baby ducks.
