Yep it was real alright. I had my eye too close to the scope and the backfire caught me just above my eye with edge of the scope, had six stitches.

(Not the gun I used but same type.)

Ouch! Glad you're alive! I got my finger caught in the paper shredder once, and I think I got 7 stitches for that!
