Teach me your secrets oh wise one...How come? :/
Yeah? I had a mean BO boy once. After I figured out rooster behavior he became the BEST ROOSTER EVER. SO gentle with then hens, and he was the ONLKY roo I've ever had that would attack full size dogshe charged pour great pyr once...*mumbles* through a fence BUT STILL!
Imiss him so much...
My one BO is SUPER nice! It's his brother that is mean.I'm probably about to butcher my BO as well. They are super aggressive! However, I've found that most of the aggression is just plain trying to protect the hens, but still, I've had him for a year, he should know what to and not to attack. I was going to cure his cape and sell it to people who tie flies, but the other roosters have torn him up so bad, I don't know if it is even worth it.

I carry a "Chicken Catcher" with me. OK thank you!Yay, I get to give all the many details of Arrow's life: from jerk to gentleman - hey that sounds really cool!
He never really was a bad rooster.... He was defensive, we just didn't know it. He never looked for s fight, he only attacked if he was being (or thought he was being) provoked. Once I figured that out, and didn't poke my boot at him whenever he looked sideways at me he calmed right down. It was really mostly me that needed to change, I just didn't know it![]()
BUT, if your boy really is a jerk - same general rules apply. Don't attack him, wait til he actually kicks you. Even just carrying a stick with you to keep him a distance away from you is fine, just make it a point not to "attack" him with it.
Don't let him mate hens if you're within a few steps of him either. THAT is blatant defiance right there.
And lastly, don't hold him unless you have to. It is absolutely MORTIFYING for a rooster to be held in front of his hens.
