Oh no!! It might be, but I wouldn't give up. How far along is it? is the yolk sack visible? Is there blood? Get in in the bator NOW.

The yolk sack is visible. I don't see any blood (although the yolk sack has some red in it, is it supposed to be like that?). My mom said it would have probably hatched tonight.
(By the way, I forgot to add that we took the chick out of the egg fully to see if it is alive, not sure if it is though.)

I haven't a clue.

I've covered her cage in tull so that should keep the flies at a minimum.

That's good. I like to put wood charcoal (from our fires) on wounds. Just grind it into a powder and sprinkle on. A friend taught me that, it really helps keep everything out.

How far did it fall? That's normal. I'd put it in a cup or egg shell or something, so the yolk won't burst. If it's alive.

Huh I've never heard of that. Unfortunately it's been raining for almost two weeks so no charcoal here.


Oh and she's been hissing at me, first time I've ever been hissed at by a duck that wasn't broody.

I would think so. Eh, not all at once, it'll be a drought by August.


That's what my sister said. She hasn't hissed while I was handling her, but I walked into the barn and she just stood there hissing. It's one from my last batch, the ones that would follow me around so she's actually very easy to work with, I couldn't believe how calm she was.

It fell pretty far, don't know how exactly far though I think it might be dead. When we first looked at the chick, it was cold. I've been poking the chick gently to see if I can get it to move even the slightest, which its not. do you think it's not moving because it's cold or do you think it would have moved at least once from me poking it? I'm trying my best to convince my mom to put it in the incubator but she says no!!!

Yeah. That's how it is here. Tons of rain, then nothing and we get low on water.

It makes sense! Ok. That's good! It's so hard to work on animals that aren't very tame or are scared.

Could be either. It's prolly dead, though. You need to get it warm, just in case! Why can't you put it in the bator??

I had ducklings that had pipped get to the mid 50s once (bator malfunction) and they were barley moving, I actually thought they were dead, but as soon as they got warmed up again they started acting normal. I got 18 out of 20 that hatch, my best ever. Stick it in the bator and give it a couple hours.
