One of my brooders is like a bookshelf; two levels, both the exact same. We used mostly scrap wood for it. The front is chick wire except for the doors (one on each side of each level, so four total).
You could make something like that, where the floor of one is the top of the other. It might use a little less wood, I don't know. It's kind of hard to explain, but it works well and didn't use too much wood. Also can last a long time.
