"TRUE" A&Ms due this weekend...

Yes...Coturnix have very thin skin though and with a keen eye you can kind of see the flesh coloration. Guess If I do end up crossing JB with my JW I will have to cull some offspring and see the flesh coloration for myself though for a 100%.

I don't give a hoot about all white flesh/meat,... I just want the great white jumbos. I've heard 16 oz. I'd take that!

Arr matey, in search of the great white quail!

Just why do you want such big quail? I eat them & 10-14 oz is plenty big to sell or eat. are you going to advertise the BIG 1 POWNDER??

I have some I'll bet are that big . but it just is not that important--to me--

Jumbo Brown and A&M are two quail that were developed for the soul purpose of being a LARGE bird. But soo many people are breeding birds that in my eyes don't even deserve to be called Jumbo in any way. So this is something I'm going to strive for in my breeding.

I have to agree. Most "jumbo browns" seem to be regular browns, maybe "medium browns" if you're lucky. Let me know your adult weights on these birds, if they're sizable, I'll probably buy some from you to give a jump to mine and bring in some new blood. Mine are supposed to be 12 ouncers, and they're gaining about an ounce per week. They're already 6oz birds at 6 weeks.

Again good luck sam. I don't think mine are done growing but i have a golden roo in here healing, the smaller roo beat the heck out of him. He's been crowing his head off, I might be checking what color his meat is soon..

I would be satisfied with 12-14 oz as well,.. but the more you get per bird, the fewer birds make a meal, the less butchering you have to do.

Why wouldn't you want a meatier bird?
