Hello all, I've been referencing this site for months and finally decided to join. I recently obtained a pair of Ameracaunas but had someone tell me they didn't think they are true ameracaunas. But I've had a few tell me they believed they were. I figured here would be a good place to ask. I love them no matter what. But I just would like to know for breeding. I don't want to advertise them as something they are not.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Ameraucana have a color requirement, neither of those birds looks to match a recognized color, link to website with pictures of the colors they recognize http://www.ameraucana.org/scrapbook.html the birds could be purebred Ameraucana (both parents were Ameraucana) but they would be considered Easter Eggers.

They are Easter Eggers. The bottom one is especially obvious as its legs aren't even close to the slate blue requirement for true Ameraucanas.

Thank you all. And I'm very happy to have joined. Looking forward to making even more chicken and duck friends.

Thank you. I love them. Very funny too. Love all my my birds. They have the coolest personalities. So happy that my hubby talked me into getting poultry. All these guys are pets and eggs. Come spring we will get pheasants

His legs are actually an olive color but the color of his feathers were throwing me off.

You're welcome. Easter Eggers are my granddaughter's (pictured in my avatar) favorite chickens. She loves their colored eggs. :o)
