True Ameraucana Roo?

Hi all!

I got this chick from a breeder who suspected he was a roo. This breeder purchased hatching eggs from an Ameraucana Breeders club member.

He’s supposed to be a 6.5 week old black Ameraucana. I’m wondering if he’s actually a roo.

His comb isn’t prominent, only a single comb, but growing the other 2 rows, not red or pink as of yet. He’s very slow to feather in and does not have a dominant or roo-ish personality. Not sure what to think about his tail either.

We named him Huck. He will follow me around the house and yard, come when I call him and lay on me for however long I want. He’s our favorite chicken by far, just hoping he’s a roo! What do ya’ll think?

Looks like a girl, not sure about breed. Did you say you want him to be a boy? Also, if he is anything related to an Ameraucana, chances are he is not pure. Doesn't look like he has muffs or anything though. Not an EE or Ameraucana, probably.

Probably a different pure breed!

Actually, chances are that that chick is a black EE, because it actually does have muffs.

The only other breed the breeder has are Marans. Could he/she be a black Marans?

Yes, but I do see muffs. Muffs, single comb...could it be a cross? S/he would be and Olive Egger!

That’s an ameraucana. I see no reason why it wouldn’t be. Not sure that it is a cockerel, though.
