My wife and I have 2 True Amerucana hens about 1 year old.
One is black and one is blue and they came from a breeder.
They started laying eggs at about 9 months old February of 2021 you know slow maturing.
Their egg production was very poor from the start.
Now we are lucky to get 1 or 2 eggs every 2-3 weeks.
They are worse at egg production than our Cochins which are reportedly bad layers.
They are on egg layer crumbles and housed with our other breeds.
Is this type of egg production common for true Amerucanas?

Wow do they get enough layer feed/protein...and daylight?

They are on 16% protein egg layer crumble feed.
The feed is free choice available all day out of a gravity feeder.
They are housed with other breeds in a 8'x8' coop with 2 windows and 2 enclosed runs.
We just 1 blue egg today for the first time in about a month and they are the only 2 blue layers.
I wonder if there going through a molt or something.
Kinda early to be molting they just started laying eggs last February.
They are with a blue Amerucana rooster I wonder if he's putting too much stress on them.
The other hens(2 white leghorns, 2 buff orpingtons, 1 barred rock, 1 silver laced wyandotte, 2 spanish penedaesesa, 2 cochins)housed with them are laying eggs regularly.

Very odd.... but that is just them, and no, not typical of the breed.

My Ameraucana lay better than that.
I might separate them the rooster and the rest of the flock to see if they are under stress and see if egg production picks up.
Only got 2 blue eggs this past month.

Are you where it is hot?

Ameraucana are fluffy girls... heat stress might be getting to them.

Try getting higher protein feed, a non layer feed such as non medicated chick feed or all flock etc. Also, how many chickens are in your coop? If they're a little cramped, it could be stressing them out.

It's a 8'x8' coop with 2 enclosed predator proof runs
One run is 8'x8' the other run is 10'x10'
Chickens in the coop
1 Amerucana rooster
2 Amerucana hens
1 silver laced wyandotte hen
1 barred rock hen
2 buff orpington hens
2 cochin hens
2 white leghorn hens
1 Spanish Penedesenca hen
That's 12 total
All the other hens are laying at a normal rate
