I noticed the other day that my local WallyWorld had eggs labeled as "Fertile Eggs" - I almost bought some to try the experiment since I have an empty bator right now, but DW says she wants Lavendar Orps in the bator next

My first 100% hatch came from eggs that I got from a local farmer. They were washed, refrigerated, and stored for at least a week. I decided to try hatching some, and got 100% hatch. It IS possible, as long as they are fertile.

Here is a question.

I keep my eggs on the counter. I understand that they can be kept that way for about 5 weeks and still be good. We use them before that.

But now that I have a roo, I keep having dreams that I wake up to chicks hatched on my counter. Should I put these fertilized eggs in the fridge? I don't want any possible development going on, when we crack an egg to eat it, or no one in this house will ever eat eggs again!!

It takes well over 90F for an egg to start developping. Somewhere around 96-98F. Unless your house is that warm you won't grow chicks. The eggs will go bad faster at higher temps if you don't run much AC but they should not grow a chick. I'm not sure it even gets hot enough here to do it.

Which store? I've been wanting to try this hatching grocery store egg thing.

It was at Ward's. It's been a couple of months and I notice that they have eggs from different farms at various times.
