Truth or myth.

So I heard that when eggs are incubated at a certain temperature you are more likely to have females hatch than males(like male embryo's die)
Is this true?
If so, then please do tell me, What is this magical temperature?
We sexed all of our chicks today, and they all turned out to be females, but I am still curious.
(we did vent sexing)

it's all myth... that only works with certain reptiles...

Okay so how about this one.
Truth or myth.
Longer more pointy eggs are usually a male.
my mom thinks this one is true, and my friend is convinced it is true (neither have tested this myth before)
Personally I think it is bogus, but I could be wrong.
All I know is my chick that came out of a very long, and pointy egg, was female.
I think shell has nothing to do with it.

don't vent sex if you aren't professionally skilled in it...


also, me and my friend both set eggs the same day, he hatched more hens than me... RAWRGH!... but i still got two self blue hens, and that's what i wanted... woot...


there is no way of sexing a chick in the egg...

I've tried them all, none are true. The only true thing is that my silkies only have females. And I don't know why. Last hatch, I didn't even bother looking because I knew they were all girls.

She just happened to be the first girl out of four boys.
