    I have a 4.5x4.5 coop for silkies only how many do I need for them to stay warm and be comfortable in winter temp drops to single didgets occasionally The other chickens have thier own coop 10x10 for the big girls

    They wll be fine with the temps that you see as long as you have good ventilation.

    4.5X4.5= 20.25 sq ft /4 sq ft per bird = 5 birds will be comfortable in you coop. Since they are silkies and smaller you can maybe jam another one in there if you have a good run or them. 10 sqft per bird in the run.
