So I'm lazy I guess and decided I'm tired of shaving my legs all the time........... so I broke down and bought a hot waxing kit. Found out it's not as easy as it looks, and you really need a warming device if you don't have to stop what you are doing every 5 min to rewarm it. Also you have to be fairly coordinated- which I'm not. And you really need to make sure you are away from any towels, clean clothes, chicken feathers... etc as it sticks to you like glue, and to anything else. Then there's the ripping it off part. Well most of my legs were pretty good and didn't hurt too bad, but others........... my husband came running into the room to see if I was killing myself. He doesn't understand the need to cause yourself that much pain.LOL He thinks I ripped my skin off in some places........ feels like it too and I missed some spots, but I ain't going back. LOL Then it was hard to get the residue off, especially on tender skin. Hubby got a little on his finger and it reminded me of the video of the cat with duck tape stuck on it's foot. Geesh................ so much for smooth legs, I think I'll try some Nair...

i am laughing so hard! i used to do that as a service in our salon. I wouldn't go bikini waxing for fear of the unknown. I had a guy get his back waxed then legs and he ask for a bikini wax and i was outta there. LOL Here he was a body builder but dang....OUCH I used to use a product to remove wax that worked well, also baby powder helps chaffed skin. If you hit the area twice you can rip your skin. Try an oil to get the extra wax off. Yeah, please wait if your tender~ I did under arms and got one done and cried and ran out the room~

I can laugh cuz I've been there before.
Had hair removal wax all over the tub, the underside of the coffee table and on the cat. Still had hair on my legs.

You are a great story teller! I know from personal experience that it is painful, but your account of it is hilarious!

I bought Nads several years ago; my first & only infomercial purchase. It's great stuff! Hurts less too.
I love that it's water soluble, so if it gets in the wrong place it'll soak off.
When I tried to buy a refill I found that I had to buy a new kit all over; with the fabric strips, video, spatula, etc.
On eb ay I found a recipe for $1. Now I make it for cheep in microwave, & re-micro 10 sec before using. It's just honey & sugar & lemon juice. Shhh.
my legs get a bit neglected, I only use it under arms & now, but ponder using it on DH's face

eep I tried the epilady whirring spring grab em and yank em thing... no amount of brandy made it tolerable!
added later.... digging for the recipe will post it this weekend!

I pluck my brows and shave my legs...I just can't handle waxing that much hair LOL I wish there were something you could do to get rid of your hair totally so you would never have to shave again.

I use to have that recipe... lost it ... so a refresher would be nice.

BTW: I was going to mention body sugaring as it is easier to remove from the skin than WAX!

It hurts less and less the more you do it. I'm able to wax with no pain now.

But Holy Crow... when you first start. My eyes popped out of their sockets and teared instantaneously. My skin was red and tender, looked like freshly plucked chicken skin.

It will damage the hair follicle and eventually not grow back. So I have less and less hair in unwanted places. lol
