Trying to figure out what thia wild bush is

We live in western Pennsylvania.
Not sure what it is. Wondering if its toxic to chickens. Our girls use it as a place to hide. The more curious pullets are jumping and trying to eat it...

I'm being told an elderberry bush

Are Elderberries safe for chickens?

"chickens can eat elderberries, however, we are dealing with a toxic plant here, so caution is mandatory! The stems, leaves, roots, and unripe berries of the elderberry plant all contain a compound of cyanide-inducing glycosides which are toxic"

Sooo... I guess as long as they dont eat any unripe berries or leaves they'll be fine. If it were me, I wouldn't let them near it, but it's your choice!

After reading this I, personally would dig those bushes up. But that is MHO

Will get rid of them and reroute the fence in the mean time.
