Welcome to BYC. I'm no expert, but my first thought with dry poop is that the chick may be dehydrated.
What sort of waterer are you using? Are you putting any additive in it?
I suggest that you try mixing up some of the feed with lukewarm water to make a wet mash to help the chick get more water.
