Trying to find humidity/temp. gauge - advice pls.

But the examples shown in this thread don't have an "outdoor" probe that can be placed inside of a water wiggler do they?

you are welcome! It's the only gauge I use! I have two in each incubator- amazing what the temp difference is in different corners of the incubator. I also use them on the babies when I put them in the brooder.
GOOD LUCK

Hi Ed!
I have never used a water wiggler and on my own fertile eggs I have 90- 100% hatch rate (my own eggs- NOT shipped)...but to answer your question, NO there is no probe.
Good luck!

I'vegotchickenfever :

what section of WM? We checked yesterday in the aquarium & garden section - nothing.

Last night, I got mine in the "Do It Yourself" department on the same aisle as the lighbulbs. (I hope that helps!)

You can find a digital thermometer with a probe on it for a water wiggler in the kitchen gadget section, in with the food thermometers. (The water wiggler doesn't need a hydrometer on it!

) Good luck!

I read a post the other day about putting a hygrometer probe in a wiggler and wondered what the heck? Thought maybe there was something going on I didn't understand.

I figured the indoor/outdoor models is what people are using for the water wiggler probes. Set the thermometer/hydro unit to "outdoor" and use the reading from the probe at the end of the wire for the ww temperature.

Thanks for the clarification on the probe. Sounds like you don't need a probe with the hatch rates that you're having! Fantastic!!!

The units used with water wigglers don't have a hydrometer probe (which would be nice) but rather a temperature probe. The probe is inserted into a water wiggler to get a close approximation of the temperature inside the individual eggs rather than the "air" temperature. It also gives a more constant temperature reading that isn't affected as much by opening and closing the lids,etc.,. Air temp readings tend to fluctuate more when opening and closing the incubators.

All of this is what I've read and the way I understand it to work. I haven't tried it myself as I'm just a stinkin', rank newbie...but it all seems logical to me.

YMMV
