Trying to hatch shipped eggs - Take 1

Good morning! Good luck with your batches @Lenka and @oregonkat
I will be setting my (first ever attempt) shipped eggs later today, yay!
They shipped Tuesday from NC to FL (I received them yesterday). They arrived intact, but with slippery air cells, and are resting, blunt end up.
I have incubated before, but they were eggs from my hens, and it was about 5 years ago, and with a different incubator.
Looking forward to success with our hatchings! :fl

Thank you! I ordered the Intense Egg Color, 6 eggs, and 3 mystery eggs.

Thanks. I haven't had Wyandottes, or any blues.
They sent an extra egg, so I have 2 Super Blue egg layers. And I am thinking the mystery egg in the lower left corner is another Olive egger. I hope the Super Chocolate egg layer lays dark eggs. I plan to keep one cockerel.
With only a 50% hatch rate considered good for shipped eggs, I hope I do get at least 4 or 5 chicks. We'll see!

Some of my worst hatches have been from eggs shipped within my state or a state away :(

I had a 100% hatch on my shipped Guinea eggs. Those guys are tough.
Is your post office considered a hub for the region? If so, that is probably the reason that your state eggs or ones from next states over have had such a hard time. The hubs tend to get hammered along with the packages with all the mail going through. No one bothers to watch for fragile things like our eggs. :idunno

well looks like my results arent awesome, of the 24 eggs, 12 were viable, 4 hatched, but 2 died.... and its day 25 for the rest of the eggs. kinda bummed, but i know that this was a possibility. lesson learned. At least the eggs i got from a more local farmer (more of a mix) are mostly viable and should hatch out a week from saturday :D
