trying to make my silkie hatch eggs for me, she WONT sit on the eggs!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, so, I FINALLY GOT A BROODY HEN. But here is the best part, she is one that wasn't even in my mind of being able to go broody, but my ameraucana gen just went broody and she sits on the nest a lot, but, people say the hen will bite if she is broody but when I open up the coop she runs of the nest. However, when she is out she is very fluffy and keeps her wings out a little. I am going to try and move here tonight to a different coop, will she sit on the new best or will she stop brooding? If she stops brooding I'm just going to cry, cause I've wanted a broody for months
So happy for you!!! :wee

finally! I got a broody! now, I have moved her to a diffrent coop, and she Is still sitting on the eggs, however, I put 3 fertilized eggs under her yesterday and am going to put a couple more today, if some of the eggs hatch first before the others will mama still sit on the unhatched eggs?

Not necessarily. It's best to put them all under her at the same time, or she may abandon the unhatched eggs once her first ones hatch. You could take the first ones and put them in a brooder until the other babies hatch, then put them back under her once the rest hatch. But I wouldn't add any more after today. You might be pushing it.

In the future save your fertile eggs until you have a many as you want to put under her and do them all at the same time. Even without your separation there can already be late or early hatchers. Mean time you can just leave sacrificial eggs or fake eggs under her. My hens stay broody even with ALL eggs taken away.

Aside from mama maybe leaving before the second ones hatch, birds that hatch later are weaker than their siblings and it can be the difference between life and death.
