Trying to reintroduce sick hen to the flock

I like that idea.

I let her run around the basement today and finally got a clear look at her poop. Green and white diarrhea

She is still not "fixed". The vet wanted to do three more tests that cost $100 each to get a definitive diagnoses, I said no. So I need to decided if it's the end of the line or not:(

2nd that.

That is a great idea! If you pull the dominate hens out and put them in solitary long enough then reintroduce them it will throw the pecking order out of wack and they will all start over again. I think that could be the answer to your problem. There will still be a few dust ups but they shouldnt focus on that one girl and they shouldn't be nearly as intense.

I just went through this. It wasn't easy, but I found her a friend and let them have the coop and run while everybody else went into solitary. THEN I found her another friend. This very night the new threesome are sharing a nest-box -- I intended to put them up on the roost but felt it was way more important for them to bond. After another week I will add a fourth friend... and so on.

Even if you find her a friend who has to stay in a nearby dog crate for a few days, just having another chicken nearby might alleviate her depression.

To boost your girl's health, is she being given any extra protein's like fish or egg? Have you given her vitamins?

I am wishing your girl the best.

I have found that re-introducing chickens back to the flock is best done at night. My coop is lighted until around 9 pm. I re-introduce around 10. I just had a 6 wk old bantam that hurt his leg and had to go to the hospital pen for a couple of weeks. I put him back in a week ago at night. He is mingling fine, but still hasn't been accepted back into the brood click.
