Trying to save my pet, Penny from acites.

Update: penny is still alive, needs fluid drained every few weeks, comb blackens she perks up immediately after procedure.

UPDATE: penny is still well has not filled up with water as much in winter, drained twice this winter and is picking up some weight and is very active

Hello, I know my hen well now, when she needs draining her comb turns blue and she doesn't move around much. After I drain her she follows me all day. Here's how I do it: take a sterile 16ga needle without a syringe and gently insert two inches below vent, two inches to right or left. If you have hit a good spot water immediately comes out if it doesn't try again....feel with your hand for the water and thin skin most times feathers will fall out where skin stretches and then shrinks. Anyway my hen is doing great and is thankful for her life I can tell.
