Hi, I have a hen bantam with 12 bantam chicks they are now a week old and i was wondering how you can tell the gender of them. I'm going to raise the chicks and tame them and when they grow i am going to sell the cocks and keep the mum and her hens.

Also if you clip there wings will they still lay eggs?

Thanks Jack

You might be able to tell by 6 weeks. Generally the ones with larger, really pink combs. As someone stated in another thread, the first to get their tails are nearly always girls.

Clipping their wings won't have any effect on egg laying. Just be sure to research it and do it correctly.
