TS Bantam Chickens—Was told Silkie or Old English Game??

It's a big chain farm store (like TSC) in the west coast.


Never had a Hoover's RIR. Maybe it really is a difference in the lines.


I dunno... she looks just like a RIR now. I have a hard time believing she is mixed. Chick leg color can be different than adult leg color.

Okay.

Hoover's RIRs vary between both dark mahogany, & Rusty red. Which is too be expected with hatchery birds.


I know about the differences between chick leg color, & adult leg coloring. Just saying that RIR chicks typically have orange legs as chicks.

Yeah, it is a little weird that her legs were pinkish. She could have had very "see through" skin. I've noticed a lot with legbars, the skin on their legs as chicks is very thin, making their legs look pink (and blue around the toe joints) because of the blood veins showing through. Something similar could have happened with this RIR.

My sister has a silkie with 6 toes, it's a pet quality bantam silkie though. She named her Marshmallow. I hatched her from my silkies.

So i guess its not just tractor supply.. I have 1 too ( Zoe ) who is a silkie from TCS and has 6 toes.
