TSC ducklings!

BTW pekings do not have as much meat as I used to think. Raised pout a drake to 16+ months and was barely a meal for the both of us. But made a great duck soup the next day.

AmberLea88, My TSC associate told me that it was the commonwealth of Va. rule, not TSC's. Still doesn't compute to my brain tho about in case one dies- if I was allowed to buy my intended 5 ducklings and 1 died then I would still have 4. Bought 6 and if one dies left with 5... Can baby ducks really count that well? LOL They are cuties tho! Last week they had at least 100+ baby mallards and sold them like hotcakes!

All i know is that 6 is the minimum, lol. It's not a matter of if the ducks can count well or not, although if you can teach them basic math i really would enjoy that video

I live in Minnesota. My closest TSC has a 2 duckling minimum (my closest TSC doesn't actually sell ducklings--just chicks and bunnies.

A salesperson there told me that they get their chicks from a hatchery in Iowa.

I just bought at TSC for the first time ducks....and they didnt care how many I bought....I was going to get one, but decided on two because I wanted it to have company then I saw another cute one I liked and got it and then I saw it....THE ODD ONE....I was told it was a MALLARD....but it was DIFFERENT....and I had to have it...so I ended up with four....

they are a week old now....

Yes, this is the reason they have minimums. I was a manager there for a while and my employees were always telling people it was the law, but it really is just a TSC thing. We constantly had people coming in and buying them for Easter, then once the chicks or ducks started getting bigger and were no longer as cute as when they bought them we had people calling and asking for refunds, or if they could just bring them back, or if we knew someone who would take them. It was ridiculous. However, if we knew someone had chickens or ducks at home already and weren't just buying on a whim, we let them buy however many they wanted, whether it was 1 or 100. But that would depend on how lenient your Tsc is and how well they know you.

Also, I believe TSC uses 3 hatcheries- Mt Healthy, Privett and Ideal, and it is based on your location which on supplies your store.
