Very good idea. I was actually thinking of getting an insulated xlarge dog house for the chickens. The roof is removable to ez clean. Since the "coop" will be inside a large fenced area, I was wondering if the dog house coop might work?

The recommendation around here is 4 square feet per bird in the coop and 10 square feet per bird in the run. I think that those recommendations are a good guideline to follow.

I just bought this coup at Tractor supply, minor damage so it was supper cheap. Has this one worked out for folks? I'd like to add a run, maybe insulate and line it on the inside with wood and close off the big open mesh a bit?
