GlicksChicks
Crowing
The only thing I have heard about the chickens in the back was a woman offering me a 3 legged rooster that they had in the back. This was at a TSC I uses to go to before I moved. I didn't take it though because at the time I was not looking for a rooster. Some of the stores in Georgia were getting ENTIRE shipments DOA because of mail delays. Maybe there were a lot of sick or dead chicks in the shipment, "Unfortunately" sounds a lot like something I would sarcastically say if I was obliged to sell weak or dying babes.
The TSC employees definitely are RETAIL workers, not SMEs. I've had one tense up in horror when I flagged her down to inform her that the crested cream legbars (that she got from the back of the store) were NOT all female. She mumbled "the hatchery said..." clearly expecting to get chewed out about something she didn't know about or have control over. She relaxed when it became clear I wasn't going to verbally abuse her. I started info dumping on her about autosexing chicks and what the boys and girls look like. Sick or injured chicks are usually kept in back, and if you show that you know what you're doing, you can usually get them for 25 cents or free, because they're relieved that the chick might actually have a chance to survive. So, not the greatest situation for employees or chicks, sadly.
Whenever I get the chance to talk chickens and tell people about them, I take that chance. Talking about chickens is something that I can do all the time.
