tube feeding

Gosh, I'm by NO means an expert, but...it's most important for her to be hydrated, and eat. She needs to stay warm and comfortable. It would be helpful if you could get a pic of her most recent poop...also, I'd begin a log, writing down date/time and what you are noticing. Sometimes the days run together, and the progress is slow, so if you write things down (be specific) that will help with a timeline of events. When you say "straight blood" - do you mean like it's all liquid, no other matter in it? I really do think a picture would help. Can you take a fecal sample in to a local vet for examination? She could be wormy...seems awfully young for that, but I guess you never know.

Oh, as far as too much - have you actually seen her eat and drink? Does her crop feel full?

It sounds like cocci to me. I'm so sorry, Kris. You just can't a break these days.

The cocci I've seen is "blood tinged" - not straight blood...but again, I'm no expert!! If it IS Cocci, the Sulmet will take care of it. I know what you mean, kinnip - it does seem like that sometimes. I feel like I've been going through issues for months now, and I feel like MURPHY lives with me! Be strong, Kris!

Thanks Wynette and kinnip. I took them both outside for a while in the sun. I changed pens for them, this ones a bit smaller

. But I am taking the other one out to disinfect it.

I hand fed a little food and electrolytes and a little more sulmet water. She seems ok for now, havent seen her poop. Yeah it was straight liguid blood. I will have to wait and see how it goes.

good idea on putting them in a smaller area; watch that she's not getting picked on. Also, good idea on disinfecting!!

A neighbors dog tried to break into the chicken pen and tore the outside mostly off and knocked over two mirrors and they broke. I was using the mirrors to get more sun on the garden, Well I dont know who did it but I had to pick up a lot of broken mirror shards. Man I hope thats not it. She was out there for a little while, but I think i cleaned it all up.

Well she pooped. It looked like a good healthy poop with a little liguid blood next to it also. Thats a lot better than before. I am continueoing to feed and medicate her every hour. Thanks

Kris, I had a young pullet that pooped what looked like a chunk of tissue - it wasn't blood, but bloody mucous is the best way I can describe it. I treated her with Sulmet and she was fine, and I haven't had any issues with her since then (and she is now laying without issue). I took an EXTREME close-up of the poop & posted on here to get feedback when it happened - did the poop look anything like this? sorry - I know it's a gross picture because it's so zoomed in!
