Pictures below but info first: I'm not sure how long she's had this as I just found it. I first thought it was a poo or mud ball but it definitely isn't. It's about the size of a walnut, a bit soft kind of like bumble foot & it's on the outside of her right leg between foot & hock. Anyone else ever seen this? Any ideas on what I can do for it? It crossed my mind that maybe I could rubber band it so it would dry up. Please don't flame me for thinking this. I think it's horribly cruel when people try this to dock a dog's tail, but the tumor doesn't seem to have much feeling so I thought the band thing probably wouldn't hurt her.

Here are some pics of the alien protruding from her leg.

The growth is to the left in this picture.

Showing approx. size & you can see that it has a blood supply.

Any help and advice will really be appreciated.

I'd be hesitant to band it. It could very well get infected. Is the skin broken at all? If it isn't and it doesn't bother her, I would just let it be and keep an eye on it to see how quickly it grows. Other than that, my only other suggestions would be a trip to the vet to see about having it removed but that would cost quite a bit of money. I had several pet mice with tumors. They weren't cancerous and didn't seem to bother the mice but it got to a point where the skin started to ulcerate. That's when I put them down. I hope someone with some experience chimes in soon for you. Good luck.

Oops! How dumb am I? I didn't even think about an infection. I was so focused on a cheap fix that wouldn't cause her pain that I skipped the idea of infection completely. Thank you DianaRoss77. That's what I love about this board. So many great minds come together to help one another.

Good idea also to watch the alien for awhile to see how fast it's growing. That will be extra info for the vet if I end up taking her in for removal. I have a feeling that the growth was really fast though, or I would have noticed it before now.

I've had chickens for years & I've never seen anything like this before. Anybody else have these on their chickens?
