Mine tend to grab the neck feathers, but my rougher, ruder Males often just grab whatever is closest

The back of her neck is completely bare down to her shoulders. She has some head feathers but that's a little ways from her neck where my boys would typically grab. Have you ever had one of your NN hens have their neck ripped open from a mate attempt from your roosters?

No, usually it's shallow scabs if there is any tearing. I have had toenails rip necks open though. I have a hen who had a make launch over her and he nearly tore her crop along with her neck.
