turken can't walk

Age of your guy?
What are you feeding?
Is it from the hatchery? If so has it been vaccinated for Mareks?
Picture please.
Check it's eyes for any discoloring.

Possible Mareks or vitamin deficiency
You don't have your location (you may want to update your profile with it) so will tag a few in different time zones

The age of the Turken is an important piece of information. If this is a chicken under a year old, it's one more indication we could be looking at Marek's.

Have your chickens been free ranging anywhere there is machinery sitting around leaking fluids into the soil? Insecticide use any place this chicken has been? Picking up contaminated grit can lead to lameness in adult birds.

I’m lovin’ this post ;)

My turken has not been able to stand for 4 days. He can still move both legs but when set up he just falls over and lays on his side. This has gotten progressively worse over the last 4 days. 4 days ago he was still somewhat walking now he won't even attempt to. Still eating and drinking water. Any suggestions?

@Kellishockey Welcome To BYC! :welcome
I'm sorry about your Turken. If you can answer the questions posed by @ChickNanny13 that would be most helpful.
Photos of your bird and his poop are welcome as well.

:p I'm no genetic expert...... just a guess from an observer. I mean, you are essentially mixing a turkey with a chicken, something in the DNA is bound to go bonkers! Hahaha. Sort of like tigers and lions and how if they mated their offspring will be infertile or something like that, that I've read. Or maybe it was some other animals, point is, when you mixed gene pools that aren't really meant to be mixed together, sometimes something with the DNA go haywire!
Shamo darling made you a turken sandwich. Just the way you like em!

Ugh I suspect mareks as well. Going to go ahead and research that a little farther now. Any clue how long this chicken Will survive

I'm not sure how old he is as he was given to us. He was full grown at that time though. He only eats cheese and meal works right now. We live in Maryland. Yes he does free range but I don't believe there's anything he could have gotten into.

How long have you had him?
Photos of his poop?

It very well could be Marek's, but it's always a good idea to re-inspect him for any injuries. Look at the bottom of his feet too.

If you can get a fecal float and gram to check for parasites and infection that may be helpful too.

Cheese and mealworms probably taste really good to him:) He does need a complete diet if at all possible. Sick birds can be picky eaters though. Try his regular poultry feed made into a wet mash. Some will gobble down Chick Starter so if you have any of that try it. Eggs or a little tuna may be well received too.

With suspected Marek's giving supportive care is essential. I would give him a direct dose of poultry vitamins once a day - Rooster Booster Poultry Cell or similar that contains Vitamin E, B1, B2.

He may do well in a chicken sling, this will get him upright and help keep him cleaner.
Great info about Marek's is found here, well worth the read
