Here are a few pics of my naked-neck turken, Hot Dog. She is the absolute sweetest hen in the flock. She has such a calm, loving personality, and loves attention. People say that turkens are ugly, but I think they are adorable.

Lol. She is definitely unique in here own way! I agree:
She is not ugly, just different.
She also looks very well cared for.
Would you mind I use a couple of your photos to feature the breed on my website (thewayofthechicken.com) if I attribute to the photographer? Also would you mind telling me your experience with Naked necks in general?
I have not written any articles on Naked-Necks specifically and would like to feature them.
That is totally understandable if you say no, I am just wondering and interested in the breed. I will be researching them.![]()
I am more than happy to let you use my photos. I have plenty more if you want them (full size). She is my first and only naked neck, so I can't really say that I'm "experienced" with the breed. Mine definitely has a calm, peaceful, loving demeanor. She almost has the personality of a dog...lol. She loves to have her chest/crop rubbed. When you stop, she gives your hand a nudge to tell you to not to stop...lol. In contrast, a good friend of mine had a naked neck rooster, and he said it was the meanest chicken he'd ever seen. I've always been hesitant to generalize breeds behaviors. I think that, regardless of breed, they each have their own unique personalities. But anyways, if you want some more pictures of mine, just let me know!
I don't have any full body shots (I was trying to get some good crisp close-ups) but I can certainly take some for you. I should have them by tomorrow evening! Thanks!Do you have some photos of all of her (full body shots)?
There are actually different varieties of Naked Neck chickens since the gene is pretty easy to introduce to other breeds. However, these other varieties are not counted as part of the naked neck breed because they are merely a naked-necked version of different breed. That might explain some of the temperament diversity... but still... I agree... Chickens just generally have different personalities and quirks of their own.
No two are exactly the same even though they may look and even act in a similar way.
