NY Coturnix
Songster
I currently raise quail and will be adding turkey next late spring. Quail on one side of the house and Turkey on the other.
I've ordered 4 BB and 7 bourbon that will be shipped tentatively the last week of April so I have time to get my coop together. My plan is to build a hoop style pen in the 8 x 20 range and then either make an inside type coop at one end. I'm thinking 8 x 6, or on the end of the hoop coop or add a separate attached external coop area so the hoop part is a run. If things work out I would process the BB next November and any extra bourbon toms and house the hens and a tom over the winter. I'm hoping that I'd have 4 but that depends on then hen count.
Does this sound like a large enough coop enclosure? The goal would be to at some point add some electric poultry netting to allow some "free range" area to the run space but that's down the road plans.
Any comments and advise is appreciated.
Thanks
