Turkey eggs under broody game hen !?

My question is . Will she raise the poults as hers or will she relize that they are turkeys and leave them ??

She'll raise them as hers for sure. I had a turkey that hatched out chicks and you couldn't pry her away from those babies. I'm betting it would be the same for a hen with poults.

It works great ! I put some Wishard eggs from a nest I couldnt find under a broody Wyandotte and she raised 5 poults, did a great job with them and fussed over them much better then most Turkey hens, the Wishard had way too many eggs and only hatched 6 so I should have put more under the hen, worked out great when the poults from the hen got together with the Turkey hatched ones they hung around just fine.

I wished I'd had more broody hens but young Wyandottes dont go broody easy, its usually ones a couple years old, or more. They are valuable hens if you want to raise chicks, or poults.

Yes, she will raise the poults as hers. I always put turkey eggs under my chickens and chicken eggs under my turkeys with no problems. They will do just fine. I currently have 4 broody chickens setting on 8 turkey eggs.

Thanks for the info!! She's on 4 eggs and I have 6 in the incubator....the only problem is I forgot when she set.. . I believe this will be the fourth weekend she's been up there on the eggs. it's just a waiting game, wich sucks cuz I have no patients haha

Well she did a great job and hatched out 4 turkey poults . 2 blues and 2 brown/tan but that's all she did good .

She brought them out of the nest and then must of been more interested in my Sumatra roo that was in a coop nearby . She had the poults all spread about . 1 of the blues had the top of it's heap picked off and the other blu has cuts all over it's head .

The 2 brown ones had no marks but were freezing cold .

Tonight I'm leaving the hen out to be cyote chow!! I'm pisttt!!!!

It's great news that she hatched 'em out, but making her gravy train might be a little extreme...especially since she had 100% success rate

Don't be too hard on your hen. She just may not be a good mother. So please please please don't leave her out tonight to be coyote chow. She's not to blame. I blame that darn Sumatra roo. He steared her over that way to him. He is to blame. Maybe something scared her and the new babies away. Anything could have happened. Maybe they were in danger and had no other choice but to run away. When you say that the head was picked off, do you mean the head IS GONE? Are any of them dead? I guess I didn't read it right. What happened???????????????????????
