Turkey + fly ribbon

My Cockatiel flew into a fly strip once and we used a lot of olive oil I think it was to get it off. We got as much off as we could and it didn't take him long to look normal again.
Yea we used a bunch of olive oil as well. I think the sticky part is pretty much all gone. Just gotta let him eventually turn white again lol

Hey guys I heard some commotion in my back room and walked into find my pet turkey flew through his netting and into a fly ribbon. I found it stuck between his left wing and his body. I removed the tape and the wife and I are doing the whole oil and dawn thing without much luck. It was a raid brand strip. I'm trying to get what i can off him, but like i said its not working super great. Is the fly ribbon glue harmful if I get what I can and let him clean himself the rest of the way?

He seems pretty relaxed haha

The glue is harmless. Won't stay tacky forever. Don't sweat it. It will eventually be gone.
Had it happen to several chickens/cats/dogs/grandson
All survived to tell the tale.

I can't seem to stop shaking my head and smiling over this ... although I'm sure y'all are well beyond smiling over the mess! We went through this many, many years ago, with a long-haired cat. The horses pulled down the strip and the cat chased the pretty "ribbon" as it fell. It happened too quickly to stop, and poor Clancy was an instant mess! Once we caught him, it took hours to get the crud off him ... hours, a few judicious snips with scissors and a great deal of lard. Then came the baths to get the lard off. His one side looked like a greased pig for two weeks, poor baby. And holy cow, if you don't believe a cat can sulk, you missed a real show ... I wish I had pictures!
We solved the issue of disturbed fly strips by hanging them horizontally with a chicken-wire cover right beneath them. Worked like a charm!

It is quite the mess when it happens, that's for sure! Silly turkeys always getting into trouble, such characters haha.
They sure are!

Only turkey people would understand a turkey sitting in your sink! I got a kick out of the expression on his face!!
Haha true story!

I appreciate that! We read the data sheet and it looked pretty fine. We just wanted to make sure he was helped out of his predicament. When we found him he came walking up to us with the look my kids get when they know they did something stupid lol.

That's a great idea! He also got upgraded from flight nets to an actual metal fence style (old dog run reconditioned) pen for his troubles! Gained about 35 square feet size wise as well.

Hes passed out and relaxing now after his ordeal:lau

I just want to know how you house train a turkey. :pop
Well...we have learned that if we don't let him out of the pen till after hes gone a couple times he tends to not go again for quite some time...sometimes he leaves us a present or two that my kids pick up but if we time it right we can let him graze the front yard and then bring him back in and make it pretty safe and clean
