probably a silly newby question here, this year I've got my first turkeys.
so I've got a BBW I've been thinking is a hen (no snood developing to speak of, a few small feathers up the back of the neck/head). occasionally the turkeys try to roost outside and when I was collecting the BBW to put it in the roost, I'm pretty sure I saw a little cluster of beard spikes on it's chest, maybe 1/4" long, burried down in the chest feathers. so my question is, is that proof this is a tom or do hens get micro-beards?
thanks for teaching me. I've still got lots to learn about turkeys.
