Turkey Hatching Thread

Anyone else out there hatching turkeys and looking for a place to post pics and hatching info?

A bit too early here. I generally don't hatch until May to July.

Nice.... my DD wanted to take turkeys to our county fair in july so we have been hatching since Jan 1

You do need to get an easy start for that. What are you hatching? Colors? Varieties?

we have a mix of colors for the breeders..... My DD decided that she wants to take black ones for the meat class..... still not sure how that will go over when BBW or BBB are the standard for Meat class but she wants to try, so here we go. We hatched out over 20 turkeys during January and ended up with 6 black ones that she is growing out... she Did Not want anything to do with the Chocolate ones so we sold those and made someone else's day. We also hatched out several that looked like maybe bronze?? and some that were same basic color pattern but lighter so ???
We hatched out 13 on Feb 2-3 and another 5 the 9-10 so right now we have a bunch running around in the brooder..... our next batch goes into lockdown tomorrow with 9 looking promising.

That's a lot of poults. I generally hatch 3-6 a year or so. My flock is a mix of colors, so poult color is always a surprise.

my only disappointment is that I don't get to keep em all and see the fun colors.... but right now its all about DD's project.... meaning mine can come in april right??

There's plenty of time for turkeys yet. Mine are currently buried in snow.
