Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a Narragansett turkey hen who I noticed yesterday her neck was all swollen. I watched her for a bit and she was eating and drinking ok. I assumed it was a bee sting as I didn't see any snake bite marks. Today she is worse. It's her whole body retaining fluid. I watched her drink and it looked like she wasn't having any problem drinking. Now I'm wondering if it was a snake bite. What can I do to help her? Of all my turkeys, she's one of 3 that are pets. It would break my heart to loose her.

I’m not experienced with turkeys, but I would worry about a leaking air sac or an avian pneumovirus called swollen head syndrome. Have you noticed any nasal drainage or other respiratory symptoms? A leaking air sac can be from getting bumped. Air can be removed by inserting an 18 gauge needle just under the skin and deflating it with a large syringe or by pressing air out. A vet would be the best thing now in case antibiotics or euthanasia is needed.
