Turkey info

Our hen would fly directly out of the run (6ft. fencing) and park herself on the top of the 35ft. chimney without more than a couple of yelps to punctuate the flight. Both the Royals and Slates were the most flight happy during their first year. After that, the toms pretty much stayed put and the hens would abscond when intent on finding some out of the way place to nest (all unauthorized nests were covered up/eggs moved to safe nesting locations in the shed). The adults are now going on six years of age and stay put.
They can be trained to roost where it is safe. A covered run is the only way to be sure.
