TURKEY POULT WONT SHUT UP!!! (HELP)

I'm with chickenannie, my poult was way more "imprintable" than the chicks were. He protects me and wants to know where I am. If we are outside and he walks away and comes back he will call for me (he's 6 weeks old) until he can see me again. He's spoiled rotten but even at his young age he will already protect both the smaller chicks and the larger hens when we are outside in the garden. I live in the burbs and theres a law against roos so the turkey was another quieter (we hop) option. He's so kool! No idea if it's a hen or jake but I love him.

I'm so glad to discover that this is common. I've got one (of 4)
that peeps so loud and so long I wanted to choke his little neck.
I tried everything. a mirror, a radio, a stuffed toy, etc. I could hear him through three rooms with all three doors closed. The other 3 are quiet though I don't know how they could sleep through it.......
The past two days he's been quieter, so it looks like we will both survive. Caught him tooling around the kitchen yesterday, so maybe he was just bored.

Ok so turkey poults (ive learned) have a very distinctive peep. Usually mine does 3 in a row...

its with another turkey and about 5 chicks. It paces the cage. They have plenty of food and water.

What does it want? I feel soooo bad. It crys everyday

Well, this is late for your post, but I have info on this topic to share. I have two Naragansset turkeys, a male and female. My turkey male chirped a lot too; still does. Turkeys have close family ties to the hen. If you look across the net you'll find videos of hens calling for their chicks and poults calling to their moms. Turkey hens will gather their poults under their wings to calm them, and keep them safe. Your turkey is crying it's lost and needs its mom. They will give a series of chirps, three then four. They won't stop because this is genetically based. Your bird is anxious and needs to be calmed.

To simulate being under the hen's wing I wrapped my male in a flannel pillow case, held him for a few minutes and put him in a box in a dark location. Then I put the box in the brooder and he got out the next morning.

My turkeys are 7 weeks old and they chirp their lost calls to me still. They are free range and will come up on my deck llooking for me.

Your poults bonded with you and see you as mama, and no matter what your intentions for using them for Thanksgiving or breeding, that won't change. Because of their genetics they need to be close to their mama. I know its a pain, but that's the way it is.

Possibly more space....possibly more heat......possibly needs a buddy who speaks it's language (another turkey).................

We have 2 turkeys had them going on 4 weeks we got ours for pets they are still in the house they have a pen and they are spoiled they cry every time we leave them we take them out of their pen and they will come and sit on our hands they love to be culled I can hold them against my chest they will close their eyes and wrap their toes around my fingers they are smart don't know if I will ever eat another turkey they are the best pets I've ever had

SO they get better with age? They are cute with their big doe eyes but I can't get past the peeping and messes and evertime I try to get them out of their cage they want to fly. I'm really glad this is DH's thing!

They get different with age, lol. I am fluent in turkanese and do "call and answer" with our flock of 17 turkeys. Mine are 6minths and still do the triple croak call. One very annoying bird does this extremely loud WHIT thing which feels like it pierces my skull.
