Yea, a hot date with my nearly 300 animals.

I"m dragging. Too much work out there in that chicken yard. I work a full time job and when I get home at 5:30 PM, i jump in my steel toe rubber boots and yard clothes and commence to feeding, watering, picking eggs, getting egg orders ready and so on and so forth. I don't get to bed until midnight some nights. The only hot date I have is with my bed ole bed.

i hope that one day to have thing built up like you do
i own a trucking company and now im down to one truck i haul logs with
i was hoping to sell texas a&m  quails and pheasants and turkey and chicken eggs and give trucking up for good
dot is so hard on small time owner operators every time you turn around they have new law and they will not let you know them till they stop you and give you a big fine

You may want to keep your trucking company. I don't think there is a lot of money with these animals. You would have to sell a "truck load" of animals to make what you're making now i'm sure.

I found the steel toes at Tractor Supply a few years back.

From what I hear silkies are VERY good to eat. Asians love silkies. There is an Asian market in Lafayette and they have a freezer full of the dark meat silkies.
I hope you know that roosters make a delicious gumbo. I make rooster gumbo ALL THE TIME. You can also do rooster stews.

That would be more meat in the freezer for you and your family.
Did you post the extra roosters on Craigslist? Someone may want to buy them.

i was thinking about selling some next year i have 8 but i want to build it up a few more before i sell any

i posted it on craigslist one time asking 20 bucks for a roo and 2 hen as a trio and 5 for a rooster alone and a few people call saying they would give me 5 for a hen and they would take the roos off my hand for free well to say the lease i nicely with my best smile while biting my lower lip that i would just keep them

And the ever so popular people who want to lower your FIRM price and offer you something less than what you have posted. That just eats my goat. I guess they think these animals live on water. They must not know that feed can be as high as $17.00 a bag. I want to ask them, well sell me something that you have over at your place for half of the price. NOT!

well there was no swelling this morning so i put it back with the flock i will keep a eye on her i was thinking she needed some exersise since i had her cooped up in a small 30" x 30" cage and she kept calling and calling to the others since i put the other one down

i have seen some silkies cleaned and that drark meat look unheathy to me lol

yeah people think you dont have to feed then if they are running around free but if you dont feed them you will get attacked when you go outside
oh i thought i was fixin to get booted off the site on another thread lol
i was giving my opinion about what might have killed someone guinea and it got out of hand
but it turned out ok when somone said its time to stop when it turns in a argument lol

you have eaten a silkie yourself i have seen pictures of the meat do they tastes like normal chickens
and as far as hatch did you come out the the same results as i did most were roosters on my hatching
i wonder if chicken are like gator if the temp is too high the gator hatches more bull or is it the other way around

No, I have not and I don't think I ever will. Silkies actually scare me. They are creepy looking. I will NEVER own a live silkie and definitely would eat one. LOL

As far as the # of roosters. I can tell you honestly that one year, I must have hatched out 75 roosters. Boy, I was NOT a happy camper. I was lucky enough to sell everything that I was trying to sell (rooster wise) and I sold them at $10.00. My roosters were HUGE!!!! People were glad to give me $10.00. I still have returning customers who will contact me to see if I have more big roosters. LOL

i have big roosters to i think they are red roadiland res im not sure but they are huge and the red hens lay big brown eggs but i have 2 black hens that has brown gold looking feathers on thier neck to me they are so pretty i hope one day to get some peacock eggs and hatch them i dont know of anyone around me that has peacocks
is it ok if we carry on a converstion on this thread or should we be having it on a pm i dont know for sure i dont chat much on sites
