I can see the sense in raising turkeys for meat. I would think I could get much more meat out of them than even a cornish X. My thing is that I want to raise from my own stock, or it just wouldn't seem feasible. If I always have to order my meat birds, I don't seem to be coming out ahead. I would think that if a large breeder pen/tractor for a trio of turkeys would be in a nice size yard for meat production, it could be well worth it. But to order a shipment of birds every year....I can't see that I would do it on an ongoing basis. Plus I am prejudice against male turkeys......I think they are mean and stupid, so they would have to stay in confinement.
