Turkey vision?

Turkey see very poorly in the dark. Most likely nothing is familiar and they are having a panic attack.

We usually build roost for adults so they can just hop up.

I am building them some roosts now, but Tom you said so they can hop up? How tall are the roosts? Thanks everyone for the help. I helped them roost last night, they were all sleeping on the ground. The tom was sleeping soundly and easy to lift onto the perch, the hens were a little more difficult

generally 1 1/2 feet off the ground and or between levels. Most turkeys except BB bronze and Great whites can easily hop up that from about 1 1/2 Months to when every.

We try to have roosting boards at the same level for turkeys. It seem to reduce a bit of fighting for the highest spot. But many build them as several levels or like ladders.

But you most likely will get some breast blister if they are allowed to roost.
