Turkey Vulture Pictures and Video

Well, the eagles are more skittish, my phone was dying, and the wind kept shifting when I would hunker down near the remains :sick, it’s almost entirely gone already. So here’s what I got. There are actually a lot more birds, these are just the bolder ones that stuck around.

I love their feather color! vulture, vulture, immature eagle, then a ratty raven feather for comparison.

They are literally all over the place here

Is it weird that I really want a vulture? I am in college now to become a forensic pathologist, and help out with local coroners whenever I can and it's so fascinating to me how vultures are apart of mother natures natural recycling system. I wonder if they have ever been trained like HRD dogs or pigs to aid in finding dead people
I like you already.
How neat.

When I was a kid we had a catfish pond that someone had used goldfish in for bait and they got loose and populated until it was filled with giant (12”) goldfish... basically pretty carp....

Anyway my brother and I had the bright idea that we’d go catch them all and just throw them on the bank to clean them out ...

We fished all day, probably caught 200 or better and threw them all on the bank...

It was a couple days before we got back to that pond, ready to catch 200 more...

There were probably 25 buzzards there when we showed up and it’s smelled like nine kinds of horrible... we didn’t stay to fish...

That’s still the smell I think of when I see a buzzard ( turkey vulture)...

They were just helping... can you imagine how bad it would’ve been without them? Dead fish :sick
