Turkeys and chickens?

Can you house chickens and turkeys together? Also will a turkey return to the coop like my chickens do?

If Blackhead is present in your area, it is not advisable to keep chickens and turkeys. Chickens can tolerate Blackhead and be carriers but it can be deadly to turkeys.

If Blackhead is not a problem where you live, chickens and turkeys can be raised together but is not necessarily a wise thing to do. Turkeys are much larger than chickens and require more "personal space" than chickens. Turkeys can also be very determined when they get their mind stuck on something which can result in the deaths of chickens if they happen to be the unfortunate target of the turkeys.

Turkeys can be taught to return to the coop but most prefer to roost outside.
