Turkeys are hatching!

Good luck Carole, baby turkeys are sooooo cute. My DH loves to get the turkey call out and mess with the toms. They strut and call and depending on the sound he is making will look with thier necks way up and turning thier heads. I laugh because then they will roost on his truck and leave presents. He says that they have a death wish. So far they have decided that they like the saw horses better then the truck. They get to live a little longer. I also have 2 hens that shared a nest and now have 3 babies that they are taking care of. I hatched one other that they left behind and he hatched at the same time as 15 of my own chicks so he had a lot of help learning to eat and drink. I love my turkeys and guineas the best!!!! Hope you have a bunch of gobbles soon..Jenn

Keeping fingers crossed for you! Our Slate hen is on her own, and the coon-killed Royal hen's, eggs. So far she's only removed three bad eggs from her nest and that leaves 19. (worried about `em not hatching - more worried if they all do).

Any babies yet?

There was another dead one, a darker color. AND a live RP one under Mama!

I'm wondering if they KNOW that the colored ones are not theirs?

(I have a blue slate hen too). This behavior puzzles me.

UPDATE! Well, I got brave & took the eggs. I candled, and 3 were clear. Six were "dark", so I'm hoping they can still make it. I put them back under the hen--but not without getting pecked & bit by BOTH of them! The lone poult seems to be doing okay. I'll give the eggs a few more days........
