Turkeys due to hatch July 17th... ***day 19 & peeping and pipping ***

Does everyone mist the turkey eggs? This is my first time hatching them. I have 7 in a R-Com Suro 20 with Temp at 99.5 and humidity 45. I just started them yesterday, so have quite a few days before hatch.

I understood it that we were only supposed to mist the duck eggs.

turkey eggs don't need any more humidity than chicken eggs...now, I hear ducks and other waterfowl require a higher humidity and I am setting my duck eggs to the side where I can mist as necessary. Good Luck with your hatch, keep me posted. What kind of turkey eggs did you set?

Ok, put in 18 silkie eggs, candled the others, 1 duck egg was bad, the rest looked viable, the turkeys all had veins growing, the peacock.... Not sure yet... I saw movement in the ducks and turkeys, its amazing...
hows everybody else doing?

I believe they are Penciled Red Palms and Jersey Buffs. I am hatching them for someone else. She ordered the eggs and I said I would incubate them. I just love hatching things. I was telling my friends I must have been a broody hen in another life : ) either that or I need some grand kids. : )

Oh my gosh!!! That's what it is!! Its my kids fault for not giving me grandkids

That's what I need to be.. A surrogate chicken hatcher.. All the fun, worry, excitement, sleepless nights and the joy of having babies... Then you give them to their parents..
I tis like having grand children.. If I had any..

So I did cheat when I got offline last night and candled a half dozen of the 40 in there for curiousity's sake.

Everybody looked good, the 3 turkeys (two were really wiggling around), the 2 duck eggs I checked are awesome cause you can see so easily in those ones, plus I checked a BO and a Favorolle and they'd only be in there 5 days but I could see some action and didn't bother with the Sussex or Ameraucana - just figured they would be too hard to see through those shells right now.

Hi there Imalearning, welcome aboard!

So, I candled tonight and 3 of the turkeys had blood rings one was a quitter, one of the ducks also didn't make it..

On a bright note, the six remaining ducks are swimming like crazy, the eight turkeys look good, I'm still out on the peacock, and the silkies have only been in four days..
How everyone else doing?
