Turkeys For 2013

I had someone ask about bantam turkeys, I'm only aware of midget whites, are there other bantam turkeys?

Thank you. She is still trying to set the wreckage so I don't know if I should ... do something? This is our first year with turkeys. If she is broody like a chicken don't have I have to break her of that first... or will the lack of eggs be enough?? Thank you all for answering the newbie questions.

I used to enjoy turkey hunting, but after raising my own, I can't do it anymore. Not that I've ever shot a turkey anyways, but still, LOL.

I almost got one today, I was sitting in the truck waiting for my father an brother to return an I heard crashing an a huge gobbler came run behing the truck an I graves my shotgun an ran after it though the woods but never had a shot... In a good spot now... So it's only a matter of time till.... BOOM

So very cute. I can't wait to see green grass again. Still getting flurries almost every day.

Bad news at our house. The last 2 poults born were smaller than the others. I put them in with the others that were a week or 2 older. I think they got ram rodded over and so I put them in a tote by themselves. The one's eye swelled and neither had much desire to eat. I fed them both with an eye dropper, water too, finally adding a little Duramycin. Had to put the first one down last night and today DH is taking the other one out now. He's laying on his back gasping. I'm blaming it on first, putting them in with older ones, then secondly keeping them in a tote. It wasn't overly hot. I had thermometers in the warmest and coolest places. I feel it was my fault. Never again. Every time I incubate, I learn something new. I'm going to say, that I'm not a big fan of totes for more than a day or 2. I think it was respiratory. Now to watch the others.

I don't know Kuntrygirl this looks like a Sesame Street show with one doesn't look like the others Unless its the Sun that makes one appears to be white or yellow colored

My bourbon hen might be going broody... She is starting to linger and makes soft content purrs and trills while laying her eggs... She hasn't started sitting yet but is being aggressive towards other hens who try entering the nest box...
