I woke up this morning and nothing hatched. Now I'm getting nervous. I hope that I didn't kill them. I checked the humidity and it was back at 40!!!!! Why me??? Don't know what else to do but I did get out a plug in heater and turned it on to see what happens.

Anything hatch yet????? Fingers crossed that they are starting to make their way out.

Just logged on to give everyone an update. I woke up from a short nap and checked the humidity. It was back at 40!!!!!!! So I was not happy. So I remembered that I had double lined the tray with paper towels. So I opened the bator and gently removed the eggs so that I could remove 1 paper towel but leave 1. So I did that and put the eggs back in. As I was putting the eggs back in, I could hear chirpring. I'm not sure how many eggs were chirping because I was rushing to close the bator. So, I have my fingers crossed that my constant opening of the incubator has not killed them. The humidity is at about 58 and steady. So I don't know if that extra paper towel is the reason the humidity kept dropping to 40. If the humidity remains steady at the present number, then I will know that the problem was as simple as having an extra paper towel on the tray.

I will continue to post updates. Please cross your fingers that everything turns out ok and that I have not done any damage.

No poults yet. Humidity is still steady at 58, so I guess that extra paper towel caused the humidity to drop to 40. Temps are perfect and steady. Tomorrow is the scheduled hatch day. I'm about to take a shower and will probably go to bed in the next hour. When I wake up in the morning, I hope to see some babies. I will post and update in the morning.

Quote: If it turns out good I'll share it. I wanted something without sugar, and with out red beet coloring. No offense to anyone, I just don't see the appeal of red eggs. Maybe it's simple because I didn't grow up on them, so I tried a recipe that didn't use beets.

I"ll let you know if they are good.

((crossed fingers)))

Be sure the babies can get LOTS of air thru the vents.. THey need so so so much oxygen. I'm sure you did not harm, goodness, a hen moves them around a lot too. THey just think you are mom messing with them.
