[COLOR=4B0082]LOOKIE LOOKIE!!! I got a surprise colored poult!!!

Looks all white/yellow, with a light grey strip on it's back... but I can't tell for sure, it's still too wet. No clue where the genes for this poult came from, lol (if anybody can explain, please do... parents are a Narri Jake covering a Narri Hen and 2 Black Mottled Hens... all out of shipped eggs from a Blue Slate Tom X Narri Hen pair from last season).[/COLOR] [COLOR=4B0082] [/COLOR] [COLOR=4B0082]I also hatched 5 Black (mottled?) poults and 4 Narragansett looking poults. There are 2 pipped eggs still left in the hatcher, and I so hope they hatch out as something else new overnight. More pics tomorrow after everybody is dry, fluffed and in the brooder... [/COLOR]

So neat to get those hidden genes coming out. Ohhh, Ahhhh! Pretty!

Thanks they do look about the same age as mine. I put mine on Craigslist today for $20 bc I really didn't know what someone would charge for a 7-8 week old poult and I got two replays in 30 min.

should I have asked for more?

Not sure what the going price is. Did you sell all of them? Around here things usually go for a little lower than other areas. I've been trying to follow Craig's List to see what other people are selling 8 week old poults for. I have 3 that are 10 days old too

I only had the one poult that's why I sold it. It was getting vary lonely... I think it sold so fast cuz you don't really see poult for sall vary often around here. Mostly hatching eggs and older birds.

Here's my 1st 12 mutt poults of the season. Nice mix. They are SO sweet and calm, I missed not having poults (Turkey Puppies).
One of the Blacks looks like a dark Blue color, instead of Black and it has some yellow in the butt fluff (top poult in the first pic shows him well). Can't wait to see how it feathers out. And the 2 that are yellow/mostly yellow I am in love with. Mutts or not, it's gonna be hard to part with any of these... so I just might have to keep all 12 from this hatch. For sentimental reasons, of course, lol.






My next batch is going into lock-down tomorrow PM, or AM the next day. 13 eggs looked good when I candled this AM. Hope they all hatch too!

My turkeys attracted the wild bunch! We live in a boonie like town and have 3 Toms roosting 150 yards from the house! I will post some pics. We also had a hen come in too!

When we first moved out here 8 yrs ago wild turkeys would come into the pasture behind us and gobble back and forth with our turkeys. The drought has really dropped their numbers and now we rarely see them. So sad
