I candled to night.

Of the orig 15 Narrigansett shipped eggs, one was badly cracked ( not set) +13 clears and 1 cooking along at 14 days !!! Whooot. Praying for a girl!!

I am at 6 hatched so far . . . . we are busy today cleaning coops, etc., so I can't sit with my nose pressed to the 'bator window.

I have more BR and sweets in the incubator for a staggered hatch, and I have Narrigansetts with Oaks blood as well. The Narri are shipped so I am praying a few are not too scrambled !!

I have two jakes from Porters that need girl friends.

I probably need to order some poults from Sand Hill or Porters again--- but I only need a few, so if anyone nearby is willing to split an order, please let me know. I have 10 Auburn boys in need of girl friends.

newbie here, I'm getting an incubator and have eggs to go in that that are at different stages.How do you know when to lock down if the hatch is staggered?

What does "clears" mean? Congrats on the future girl!

I use two machines. ONe to incubate, and another to hatch. Transfer eggs at lockdown time. Make or buy another incubator to make you life easier. I use the LG which is in most supply stores. THis way I"m less likely to mess witht he air cell development of the remaining eggs.

Ahhhhh Arielle!!! I only have the one incubator. I have your turkey eggs and sussex eggs in together. I don't have the skills to make something. Please tell me there is something else I can do. It will be 14 days this Saturday.

Ok not to interupt but I thought I would ask my 1 question here since this seems to be where everyone is.

Is it true cold water will kill a turkey ? I fill all my waterers from the hose, and of course its not heated. So do I really need to specially come inside just to warm up water for the turkey's ? Seems odd, since wild turkeys drink from ice cold streams and there seems to be an abundance.
